Hello

I am Dr. Tonya Dixon-Thompson.  As a speech pathologist for more than 20 years, I have had the pleasure of working with clients ranging from pediatrics to adults in a variety of settings.  I hold a Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language Pathology Association and I am currently licensed in a number of states including California, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia.  I completed my undergraduate and master’s degree at the University of North Carolina Central and graduated summa cum laude.   I earned my doctorate degree in Professional Studies in Education and graduated summa cum laude.  I have published my dissertation, presented research and participated and moderated various discussions.

Dr. Tonya is currently creating fun and engaging apps for children. 

Her Story

 

Dr. Tonya Dixon-Thompson believes learning is life-long and ever changing.  She ensures that unparalleled therapeutic services are provided for children ages birth to 21 years old, in addition to adults and seniors. She continually participates in continuing education and integrates emerging technologies in the field of speech-language pathology to ensure she is providing effective, and evidence-based practices and services. Dr. Tonya believes practicing in the field must involve research and education.  She will meet, evaluate, and treat a child’s/adult’s speech and language skills, performance and take a creative open-ended approach to develop individualized therapy programs.  She exceeds goals and goes above clients’ expectations by providing caring, compassionate, diagnostic services. 

 

Dr. Tonya genuinely feels it is amazing to make a positive impact and difference in the life of others to provide them the tools they need to effectively communicate and interact.  The field of speech pathology is diverse and it affords a variety of opportunities to help others grow, engage in fascinating research, and even impact social change.  It is truly rewarding to promote successful life-long outcomes. Most importantly, I can have fun and continually learn!     

 

Outside of the speech pathology world, Tonya enjoys spending quality time with her family.
